« TRILOGY OF EARTH »

Day 11

The Trilogy of Earth project proposes recreating the portrait of a henceforth extinct humanity offering a path to better grasping the possible future of our planet.

To pay tribute to her ancestor Antoine Goubier (1604-1677), Agathe Simon organized a feast in his honor with the team of the Center of Research on the Unknown (C.R.U.). These festivities took place on September 28th, 2019, near the commune of Les Salles (Loire), on the farm where this 17th-century ploughman once lived: for the occasion, each participant prepared a special dish for the ancestor. The event will appear in the film Trilogy of Earth.

Created by Agathe Simon, the Trilogy of Earth project has its roots in a context of globalization and migratory flows. Its challenge is to expose the roots of globalization presented across five individuals living on five different continents.

To reconnect with the land of their ancestors and explore their genealogical origins, these five individuals will be assisted by the Center of Research on the Unknown, made up of professors and students from the University of Cergy-Pontoise and the Paris-Cergy National Graduate Art School, as well as inhabitants of the ‘Les Salles’ village, France. The Trilogy of Earth project will give rise in a film, a publication, an exhibition and an interdisciplinary forum.

With support from Bertrand Maillot and the Geosciences and Environment Cergy Laboratory (GEC), this project is being carried out in partnership with the University of Cergy-Pontoise, the University Paris-Seine (COMUE), the Paris Cergy National Graduate School of Art (ENSAPC), the LAHIC laboratory of the C.N.R.S., the Château de la Bâtie d’Urfé, and the village of Les Salles (Loire).
